The Project

Dover Castle Resurfacing Works
Macavis was appointed to carry out resurfacing works across several sections of the Dover Castle complex. As one of Kent’s most historic landmarks and a Grade I listed medieval castle, Dover Castle required a careful and considered approach to ensure the works were completed sensitively within this significant heritage setting.

The resurfaced areas form part of the castle’s high-traffic routes, used by the large number of visitors the site welcomes each year. With over 300,000 visitors annually, durability, safety and presentation were key priorities throughout the project. Macavis delivered high-quality tarmac surfacing works designed to enhance accessibility, improve the visitor experience and provide a long-lasting finish suited to the demands of this iconic location.

Challenge: Maintaining safety during live site operations
The works took place within an active public attraction, where safety for visitors, staff and operatives was critical at all times.

Solution:
Macavis implemented strict traffic management, clear site segregation and carefully controlled working areas to ensure the project was completed safely and efficiently.

Challenge: Delivering a long-lasting finish in demanding conditions
High-traffic areas within a major visitor attraction require a robust surface that performs well over time while also presenting well visually.
